Project Himayat launch brings a new vibe in the lives of Kashmiri youth

Dec 17, Srinagar: The inaugural ceremony for Project Himayat was held on 17th December in Srinagar at the Kashmir University convocation centre.

The launch ceremony was inaugurated by Mr. Jairam Ramesh, Minister of Rural Development and Mr. Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister- Jammu and Kashmir. Mr. Ramesh and Mr. Abdullah also distributed job placement letters to 1060 men and women from various reputed private companies including LIC, Cafe Coffee Day, Art of Living and Bharti Capital.

Other dignitaries present at the occasion were Dr Arvind Mayaram, Additional Secretary, MoRD, Mr. Vijay Kumar, Joint Secretary MoRD. Dr Rangarajan, Advisor to PM and Prof. Tal’at Ahmad, Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University.

Project Himayat is a centrally-sponsored initiative, which aims to provide employment after imparting free skill development training to one lakh school dropouts to break the vicious circle of poverty. Under project Himayat, The Ministry of Rural Development had mandated IL&FS Education and the Don Bosco Society to elevate this herculean task across the valley; however IL&FS has been a major contributor in making this project a success.

Under this initiative IL&FS Education has been actively involved in conducting placement linked training programmes for the Kashmiri youth. IL&FS skills training programmes under Himayat project are backed by placement commitments from various reputed companies including Cafe Coffee Day, KFC, Bharti Walmart, V-Mart, Competent BPO and Access BPO.

Project Himayat Launched
On 17 Dec’11 Mr. Jairam Ramesh, Minister of Rural Development and Mr. Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister- Jammu and Kashmir launched the Himayat Project in Srinagar. The launch ceremony was held at Kashmir University Convocation Centre.
